The metal is Fe. Complex is therefore Fe(H2O)3+6, Fe(III) d6 high spin. Should have one dd transition in visible, and because it is a 5 T2g ground state the magnetic moment should deviate from the spin only value (which would give S =2.0). Adding one electron to compound gives B which is Fe(H2O)2+6, Fe(III) d7 high spin. Three dd transitions are predicted, and the 4 T2g ground state again should lead to magnetic moments that deviate from the spin only value (for which S = 1.5).-- The magnetic moment comes out to be 24BM
