Solution

Acid Salts:

Acidic salts are salts whose aqueous solutions are are distinctly acidic in character. They are mostly salts of strong acids and weak bases.

Examples

Salt Base +Acid

Ammonium chloride, NH4Cl - NH4OH + HCl

Copper sulfate, CuSO4 Cu(OH)2 + H2SO4

Silver nitrate, AgNO3 AgO + HNO3

Basic Salts

Alkali salts or basic salts are salts that are the product of the neutralization of a strong base and a weak acid.

Examples

Salt Base +Acid

Sodium Acetate( CH₃COONa) NaOH + Ch3COOH

Potassium cyanide(KCN) KOH +KCN

Sodium sulfide (Na2S) NaOH + H2S

Neutral Salts
Neutral salts are salts that are the product of the neutralization of a strong base and a strong acid.

Common examples are sodium chloride (NaCl), and magnesium sulfate (MgSO4).

Salt Base +Acid

NaCl NaOH +HCl

MgSO4 Mg(OH)2+H2SO4
