Abraham H. Maslow was an American psychologist who developed a classification of human needs known as Hierarchy of Needs. According to him, human needs can be classified into five categories. The theory emphasizes that managers must be sensitive to the needs of subordinates and create a job environment conducive to the satisfaction of their needs. There is no cause and effect relationship between needs and behavior. Same behavior may be the result of different needs. It depends on culture, personality.
