A. Podocytes are the epithelial cells that line the Bowman's capsule. They have slit like pores between the cells and they help in filtration of blood and allows the excessive and waste materials from the blood to pass into the Bowman's capsule.
B. The columns of extension of cortex in between the renal pyramids are called Columns of Bertini. Each column consists of lines of blood vessels, urinary tubes and a fibrous material.
C. A Juxta medullary nephron is a type of nephron in which the glomerulus, PCT, DCT lie in the cortex bu the Loop of Henley is long and extends into inner medulla. Cortical nephrons have short Loop of Henley and they extend only upto outer zone of medulla.
D. Vasa recta are a group of blood vessels that runs parallel to the Henle's loop and help in counter current mehanism.
E. The juxtaglomerular apparatus is a specialized structure formed by the distal convoluted tubule and the glomerular afferent arteriole. Its main function is to regulate blood pressure and the filtration rate of the glomerulus.
