Solution

The correct option is E a-s, b-t, c-q, d-r, e-p
  • Chloramphenicol is an bacteriostatic drug which binds with the 23S rRNA unit of the 50S RNA and inhibits the transfer of the peptidyl transferase due to which the chain elongation of the protein chain won't take place as it will prevent the transfer of amino acids in the peptide chain and also inhibit the further formation of peptide bond in the chain. ie (s)
  • Erthromycin is also an bacteriostatic drug. IT binds with the 50S rRNA complex. It interferes with the amino acid transfer in the protein synthesis. It prevents the tRNA that is attached at the A site to move to the Psite due to this A is permanently occupied. Due to this neither the chain elongation takes place nor another tRNA is attached to the rRNA. This prevents the bacteria from synthesizing proteins required for its survival. ie (t)
  • Neomycin is a bactericidal drug which binds with the 30S subunit of the rRNA it interferes with interaction between the rRNA and the mRNA. Due to which the abnormal proteins are formed because of the misreading. and the bacteria eventually die due the absence of lack of essential protein. ie (q)
  • Streptomycin is an antibiotic, it binds with the 16S rRNA subunit of the rRNA which inhibits its interaction with the formly methionyl tRNA which is essential for the intiation of the protein synthesis. Due to this essential protein is not formed and causes eventual death of the bacterial due to lack of protein presence.ie (r)
  • Tetracycline is an antibiotic. It works by binding with the A site of the rRNA and prevents it from binding with the aminoacyl tRNA which inhibits the attachment of the amino acid to elongating peptide chain. ie (p)
  • So, the correct answer is 'a-s, b-t, c-q, d-r, e-p'
