Solution

In human mouth, salivary glands are present which are of three types:
  • Sub-lingual gland- It is present below the floor of the mouth. Its secretions are carried through the "Duct of Rivinus" which opens into the floor of the mouth.
  • Sub-mandibular/sub-maxillary gland- It is located just near the mandible/lower jaw. Its secretion consists of mucous and calcium and is carried through Wharton's duct.
  • Parotid gland- It is the largest salivary gland and is located near the pinna of the ear. Its duct is known as Stensen's duct/duct of parotid and it's highly susceptible to infection/inflammation.
Also, saliva conists of water, electrolyte, anti-bacterial substances, mucous and enzymes (ptyalin and lingual lipase). It's pH is 6-7
