Solution

The first composite figure is

It consists of one rectangle of dimensions 5 ft and 6 ft and one square of side 3 ft.

Area of rectangle = base × width

= 5 × 6

= 30 sq ft

Area of square = side × side

= 3 × 3

= 9 sq ft

Area of composite figure = 30 + 9 = 39 sq ft

The next composite figure is

It contains two triangles and one rectangle.

Area of rectangle = base × width

Base of the rectangle =5 ft

Height of the rectangle = 4ft

Area = 5 × 4 = 20 sq ft

Area of triangle1 = 12 × base × height

Base of triangle = 2ft

Height of triangle = 4ft

Area = 12 × base × height

= 12 × 2 × 4

= 4 sq ft

Area of triangle2 = base × height

Base of triangle = 5ft

Height of triangle = 4ft

Area = 12 × 5 × 4

= 10 sq ft

Area of the composite figure =20+4+10 = 34 sq ft

The next composite figure is

It consists of two identical triangle of height 3 ft and base 4ft and one square of side 4 ft

Area of triangle1 = 12×3×4 = 6 sq ft

Area of triangle2 = 6 sq ft

Area of square = side ×side = 4 ×4

= 16 sq ft

Area of the composite figure= 6 + 16 + 6 = 28 sq ft
