The dendrites of a neuron receive impulses and transmit them to the cell body. From the cell body, impulses move to the axon. Axons are long structures which end in axon terminals. Since they are long, the strength of impulses might get affected when they pass through them. Therefore, axons have a myelin sheath which provides electrical insulation to help in efficient impulse transmission.
