In 1875, farmers from Maharashtra rose up against the barbarity of the landlords and moneylenders. In 1918, farmers from Uttar Pradesh came up with their union named “Kisan Sabha” under the leadership of Baba Ramachandra. There was also a great revolt in Kerala which was led by the Moplah peasants but the British government crushed the rebellion.
