Ramanujacharya believed in Vishnu, and founded a sect called Srivaishnavism. Ramanujacharya was against caste discrimination and one of his first reforms was leading the people from supposed lower castes into the temple of Melukote. He believed that Mukti (salvation) could be attained through Bhakti (devotion) and Prapatti (Submission) to god. The ruler of Hoysala, Vishnuvardhana welcomed Ramanujacharya to his kingdom.
