786 - The unit digit is 6 which is an even number, the number is divisible by 2
786 = 7 + 8 + 6 = 21 is divisible by 3, If sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then the number is divisible by 3
786 - The last two digits of the numbers is not divisible by 4, then the number is not divisible by 4
Since, 786 is divisible by 2 and 3, then the number is divisible by 6
Since, 786 is not divisible by 4, then the number is not divisible by 12

Divisibility test on "540":
540 - The unit digit is 0 which is an even number, the number is divisible by 2
540 = 5 + 4 + 0 = 9 is divisible by 3, If sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then the number is divisible by 3
540 - The last two digits "40"of the number is divisible by 4, then the number is divisible by 4
