Solution

About 2500 years ago, Mathura was an important settlement. It was located at the junction of two major routes of travel and trade. These routes were from northwest to east and from north to south. It later became the capital of Kushanas and was a religious centre for Buddhist monasteries, Jaina shrines and worship of Krishna.
