Question

Melting point of three substances a, b, c are 52 degree Celsius and 75 degree Celsius and 80 degree Celsius. Arrange them in the decreasing order of the interparticle force of attraction in each of them. Also ive a reason for the answer.

Solution

Melting point is directly proportional to the strength of bond as, stronger the bond higher will be the melting point.

So, the matter with minimum melting point i.e. 52°For A will have the minimum intermolecular or inter particular force of attraction so that the bond will be weakest.
The most stronger intermolecular force will be found in C with 80℃ melting point .Also B with 75℃ will have strong inter molecular force compared to A.
So the decreasing order of intermolecular force would be , C>B>A
