It is a bacterial infection of the intestine caused by Vibrio cholerae.
It is spread through the consumption of contaminated water.
Symptoms of Cholera include:
Vomiting: Due to an infection in the intestine, the patient is unable to digest food, and digestion isn't completed. This indigestion leads to vomiting.
Diarrhea: The intestinal infection leads to a dysfunction in the reabsorption of water from the food eaten. This leads to the excretion of excess water causing diarrhea.
Weight loss: Excessive vomiting, loss of water, indigestion, and inability to consume and digest food leads to extreme fatigue and weight loss.
Muscle cramp: Excessive loss of cellular fluid causes a loss of sodium and potassium ions too. This causes muscle cramps.
