Question

Mention some applications of Newton's law of gravitation.

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
According to the Newton's gravitation law or universal gravitation, two objects attract each other with a force i.e. proportional to the product of there masses m1 & m2 and inversely proportional to the square of the distance 'r' between them.
F = Gm1m2r2 , where 'G' =6.67× 10-11Nm2/Kg2
Applications:
(1). Planets and other steller objects revolve around the sun due to this force.
(2). Determination of value of acceleration due to gravity 'g'.
(3). Determination of distances of stationary orbits.
(4). Determination of escape velocity.
