The development of printing technology in Europe was initiated by Gutenberg who developed his priniting press in 1440 in Strasbourg, Germany. He used it for commercial printing for the first time in 1448 in Mainz. The speciality of this press was that it was the first time the mechanical movable printing press was used in Europe.
