Red blood cells

Blood:

  1. Blood is the fluid connective tissue of human body.
  2. Blood contains blood plasma and blood corpuscles namely white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.

Red blood cells:

  1. Red blood cells are biconcave-shaped blood corpuscles which found abundantly in blood.
  2. RBC contains a red pigment called haemoglobin.
  3. Haemoglobin is a carrier of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
  4. Hence RBCs help in the transport of respiratory gasses like oxygen and carbon dioxide.
