Internal factors: The disease-causing factor when it exists within the body of a person is referred to as an intrinsic factor. The diseases caused by internal factors are called metabolic disorders. Some of the internal factors that affect the human health are:

  1. Hormonal imbalance: Hormones are the chemicals that are responsible to control and regulate the activities of certain cells and organs, but sometimes their secretion in excess amounts or low amounts leads to chronic disorders such as Diabetes and Goitre.
  2. Genetic defects: The defects in the genetic material of an organism lead to Genetic disorders such as hemophilia, color blindness and sickle cell anemia.
  3. Malfunctioning of the immune system: The immune system of an organism protects it from harmful diseases but malfunctioning of any part of the immune system leads to diseases like allergies.
