Open in App
Solution

Molar volume is the volume occupied by 1 mol of any (ideal) gas at standard temperature and pressure (STP: 1 Atmospheric pressure, 00C).
Ideal gas equation is = PV = nRT
Where, n= no. of moles = 1
R = Universal gas constant = 8.314 mol1K1Standard T= 273k
Standard Pressure = 1 atm = 1.013×105Nm2
V = nRTP
V = 1×8.314×2731.013×105

V = 0.0224 m3
V = 22.4 litres
Hence, the molar volume of a gas at STP is 22.4 litres.
