Solution

Turgidity:

  1. The state of being swollen due to high fluid content inside the cell is called turgidity.
  2. It occurs when the cell is placed in a hypotonic solution.

Flaccidity:

  1. Flaccidity is that situation when a cell is loose, shrunk and away from the cell wall due to loss of water.
  2. It occurs when the cell is placed in an isotonic solution.

Similarities:

  1. Both the conditions are dependent upon the tonicity.
  2. The movement of water across the cell membrane occurs in both situations.
