Solution

Angiosperms:

  1. Angiosperms are flowering plants that produce seeds in the form of fruits.
  2. Because of the presence of flowers, they are often known as blooming plants.

Classification of angiosperms:

The angiosperms are classified into two categories based on the number of cotyledons present in the seed, namely,

(a) Monocotyledons: Monocotyledonous species are those that have just one cotyledon ("monocots"). Example: - coconut (Cocus nucifera), bamboo and grasses.

(b) Dicotyledons: Dicotyledonous plants have two embryonic leaves ("dicots"). Example: - Rose (Rosa indica), potato ((Solanum tuberosum) and pea (Pisum sativum).
