Mercury is the only metal that exists in liquid state at room temperature.
Conduction method is used to heat mercury.
Because of the full-filled orbitals and strong nuclear force offered by the nucleus to the electrons, mercury is unable to form metallic bonds with other mercury atoms.
This is the reason for mercury to exist in liquid state.
