Question

MICRO-ORGANISMS CAN SURVIVE HARSH CONDITIONS BY FORMING A CYST AROUND THEMSELVES THEN WHY COULD THEY NOT SURVIVE UNDER THE TEMPERATURE OF A REFRIGERATOR AS WE CONSIDER "STORING OF FOOD IN REFRIGERATOR FOR PREVENTION OF GROWTH OF MICRO ORGANISMS"??HOW??

Solution

Microorganisms do not die in low temperatures of freezers but they also do not form cysts. Quick lowering of temperature does not allow them to perform the process of encystment, instead they suspend all their activities and become metabolically inactive. As a result, food spoilage is stopped. But, if you remove any such food from freezer it will spoil quickly because microbes resume their activity.
