One weight of chicken $=1\frac{3}{4}$ kg $=\frac{7}{4}$ kg

Other $=1\frac{1}{2}$ kg $=\frac{3}{2}$ kg.

So together $=\frac{7}{4}+\frac{3}{2}$

$=\frac{7}{4}+\frac{6}{4}=\frac{13}{4}$ kg.
