Solution

The correct option is A 79,200
Let the total savings be Rs. x
Let the 2 parts of total savings be Rs.(x3) and Rs.(2x3).

FOR FIRST PART :
Sum invested =Rs.(x3)
Nominal value of 1 share =Rs. 50
Market value of 1 share =Rs. 60
Number of shares bought = sum invested Market value of 1 share =x360=x180
Rate of dividend =20%
Dividend on 1 share =20% of Rs. 50=Rs. 10
Dividend on x180 shares =Rs[10×x180]=Rs(x18)

FOR SECOND PART :
Sum invested =Rs.(2x3)
Nominal value of 1 share =Rs. 100
Market value of 1 share =Rs. 110.
Number of shares bought = sum invested Market value of 1 share =2x3110=x165
Rate of dividend =10%
Dividend on 1 share =10% of Rs. 100=Rs. 10
Dividend on x165 shares =Rs[10×x165]=Rs(2x33)
Total dividend =Rs. 9200
x18+2x33=9200
11x+12x198=9200
23x198=9200
x=79200
So, total savings =Rs. 79200
Hence A is the correct option.
