The filtrate on treatment with ammonical $H_{2} S$ gives a precipitate which dissolves in aqueous $N a O H$ containing $H_{2} O_{2}$ giving a coloured solution. It contains $C r^{3 +}$ ion.

$C r^{+ 3} + 3 N H_{4} O H \to C r (O H)_{3} ↓ (Green) + 3 N H_{4}^{⨁}$

$2 C r (O H)_{3} + 3 H_{2} O_{2} + 4 N a O H \to 2 N a_{2} C r O_{4} (yellow colour) + 8 H_{2} O$
