Solution

Instructions:The answer for this question can be broken down into five parts:
  1. By whom were the coins issued.
  2. What were the coins made of.
  3. Technical evidence they provide to us.
  4. Evidence they provide related to religious coordination.
  5. Evidence they provide related to socio-economic condition of the people.
Solution: A number of coins were issued during the historical period by many powerful rulers of that time. They were mostly made of precious metals such as gold, silver etc.

Even bronze and copper coins were also issued by some rulers. Abundance of metal coins proves that metallurgy was practiced at that time, hence it justifies the advanced technical knowledge of that time.
The use of precious metals for minting coins gives us evidence of the rich economic condition of the people of that time.

The pictures found on the coins issued by different rulers also gives us rich information about the events associated with them, Samudra gupta’s gold coins depict that Ashwamedha Yaga was performed by him.
