  • Alkali are the metals present in Ist and IInd group of periodic table.
  • These reacts with water to form strong bases known as alkalies. Example : NaOH, KOH etc.
  • So, a base which is not an alkali is zinc (II) hydroxide (Zn(OH)2) because zinc is not an alkali metal.
