  1. Colloidal solution: It is a heterogeneous mixture made up of two phases namely, the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium.
  2. The substance distributed as particles is called the dispersed phase. The continuous phase in which the colloidal particles are dispersed is called dispersion medium.
  3. A colloid in which tiny solid particles are dispersed in a liquid medium is called 'sol'. For example milk of magnesia MgOH2, mud, etc.
