Solution

  1. Non-metals are materials that are poor conductors of heat and electricity.
  2. They are brittle in nature having a non-lustrous surface.
  3. They lack the properties of malleability and ductility and are not sonorous in nature.
  4. Other examples of non-metals are chlorine and phosphorous.
  5. Bromine (Br) is the only non-metal that exists as a liquid at room temperature and this property enables it to be used in aviation fuels.
  6. It belongs to the halogen family of elements and is very reactive in its elemental form and thus does not occur free in nature.
  7. It also finds application in pharmaceutical drugs in the form of bromide salts.

Hence, Bromine is a non-metal which is liquid at room temperature.
