  • Salts are substances created by reacting an acid with a base, in which the acid's H ions are replaced by the base's metal ions. The formation of salt from an acid and a base is known as neutralisation.
  • Example. - Sodium chloride (NaCl)

Direct combination

  • The direct combination method is also known as the Synthesis reaction.
  • On heating, a metallic element combines with a nonmetallic element to form soluble chlorides or insoluble sulphides salt in the direct combination method.
  • Ferric chloride (FeCl3) is one of the salt prepared by direct combination.
