Disease caused by bacteria- Cholera

  1. Bacteria are unicellular prokaryotic organisms.
  2. They are causative agents of several diseases in humans as well as in other living organisms.
  3. They usually attack the digestive, circulatory and respiratory systems.
  4. Cholera is an acute infectious fatal gastrointestinal disease caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.

Symptoms:

  1. Watery diarrhea
  2. Vomiting and loose motions
  3. Dehydration, muscle cramps, and weight loss due to loss of body fluids
  4. Little or less urination due to water loss
  5. Sunken eyes, low blood pressure, and fast heart rate.

Preventions:

  1. Boil drinking water before use.
  2. Eat well-cooked food.
  3. Cover the food properly.
  4. Maintain personal hygiene.
  5. Ensure proper sanitation and disposal of waste.


Disease caused by protozoa- Malaria

  1. Protozoa are microscopic organisms, single-celled that cause serious diseases in humans.
  2. Malaria is a life-threatening disease. It spread through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito.

Symptoms:

  1. Shaking chills from moderate to severe
  2. High fever followed by a return to normal temperature
  3. Profuse sweating
  4. Tiredness and weakness
  5. Reduced appetite
  6. Muscular pain, back pain
  7. Headache, nausea, vomiting
  8. Diarrhea

Preventions:

  1. Patients are advised to take anti-malarial medications to cure the infection.
  2. Mosquito elimination and prevention of mosquito bites, by using suitable insecticides, mosquito nets,s or repellents.
