When sprayed on flowers, any of the plant hormones gibberellin, auxin and cytokinin could stimulate the development of parthenocarpic fruit.
Three types of auxin-like plant hormones used in the procedure to induce the production of fruit without fertilization. They are known as indoleacetic acid (IAA), indolebutyric acid (IBA), and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). Among these NAA is synthetic auxin hormone.
