i) First, the organism is described according to its all morphological, anatomical, physiological and behavioral properties. This process is called as characterisation.
ii) Based on its characters, it is decided whether it is similar or different to any known group of taxa. This process is called as identification.
iii) Depending on its characteristics, it is placed in a taxa. This is called classification.
iv) When the correct taxa is fixed for the organism, the last step is to name it. This step is called as nomenclature.
