Solution

Blood vessels:

Blood vessels are the channels or tube-like structures through which blood is distributed to body tissues.

There are three types of blood vessels:

  • Arteries: They carry blood away from the heart.
  • Veins: They are responsible to carry blood back to the heart.
  • Capillaries: They are the smallest blood vessels that connect arteries and veins.

(i) Renal vein:

  1. It is the blood vessel which carries blood from the kidney to the posterior vena cava.
  2. It takes deoxygenated blood from the kidney to the posterior vena cava which ultimately drains it into the right atrium.

(ii) Hepatic artery:

  1. It is the blood vessel which carries blood from the aorta to the liver.
  2. It takes oxygenated blood from the aorta to the liver.

(iii) Superior vena cava:

  1. It is one of the large veins of the body which brings blood from the upper parts of the body to the right atrium.
  2. It carries deoxygenated blood from the upper parts of the body to the right atrium.

(iv) Pulmonary artery:

  1. It is the blood vessel which carries blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
  2. It carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation.
