  • The different classes of arthropods are as follows:-
  1. Class Insecta
  • The insect's body is divided into three parts: a head, a thorax, and an abdomen.
  • They have three jointed pairs of legs.
  • They also possess a pair of antennae and mouthparts that aid in food intake.
  • They have wings on some of them. Example:- ants, mosquitoes, butterflies, and ladybird beetles.

2. Class Crustacea

  • In crustaceans, the head and the thorax are fused into one.
  • Crustaceans have five pairs of jointed legs. One pair may be modified to form pincers.
  • They generally live in water.
  • Example:- Crabs, prawns, and lobsters.

3. Class Arachnida

  • The head and thorax of arachnids are fused together.
  • Arachnids have four joint pairs of legs.
  • They are devoid of antennae and wings.
  • Example:- spiders and scorpions.

4. Class Myriapoda

  • Myriapods have a multi-segmented body.
  • There are one or more pairs of legs on each segment.
  • Example:- centipedes and millipedes.
