White blood corpuscles are devoid of any pigment. These are of various types. Their main function is to provide immunity to the body.
White blood corpuscles are divided into five types on the basis of slight changes in their structures - granulocytes, agranulocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils.
Phagocytosis
The process in which the living cell engulf cells, microorganism and particles is called phagocytosis.
Phagocytosis is a defence mechanism that protects the organism from the attack of a germ. If a disease-causing germ enters the body, the W.B.Cs. multiply and increase their number and fights back the invading germ by engulfing them.
