Gamete intra fallopian transfer (GIFT) is a technique in which the ovum is transferred into the fallopian tube of the female. It is carried out in females who cannot produce ova but can provide a suitable environment for fertilisation and development.

In intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), a tiny needle is used to inject sperm into the egg of a female. This can easily help individuals with extremely low sperm count in conception and is an excellent alternative to using donor sperm.

The embryo with more than 8 blastomeres is transferred into the uterus and is called intra uterine transfer (IUT).

The zygote or early embryos (with upto 8 blastomeres) could be transferred into the fallopian tube. This is termed as zygote intra fallopian transfer (ZIFT).
