  1. It is a group of hormone-secreting cells of pancreas.
  2. It consists of three different types of cells called the alpha cells, beta cells and delta cells.

Hormones secreted by Islets of Langerhans:

  1. The hormone secreted by the Islets of Langerhans includes insulin, glucagon and somatostatin.
  2. Insulin is secreted from beta cells and also known as antidiabetic hormone.
  3. Glucagon is secreted from alpha cells and it balances the effect of insulin.
  4. Somatostatin is secreted from delta cells and also known as growth hormone inhibiting hormone.
