Pollutants

  1. Any constituent that causes harm to the environment when added to it is called a pollutant.
  2. Waste products that are generated during human activity are also considered pollutants.
  3. Those wastes which can be degraded into simpler substances are called biodegradable while the ones which cannot be degraded are called non-biodegradable.
  4. Some examples of non-biodegradable wastes/ pollutants are plastics, DDT, etc.
