A seed is an important part of the plant as they give rise to new plants. A seed has 3 portions- Seed coat, Endosperm, Embryo.

Cotyledon:

  1. The fleshy part or seed leaves present beneath the seed coat is called cotyledon.
  2. It provides nourishment to the germinating seed.
  3. Monocots have single cotyledon whereas in dicots two cotyledons are present.
