1. CH3CH2CH2OH
2. CH3CH2CH2COOH
3. CH3CH2CHO
4. CH3COCH2CH3
5. CH3CH2CO-OH

Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

The functional groups present in the following compounds are as follows:-

  •  CH3CH2CH2OH
Since –OH group is present at the terminal carbon atom, it is an alcohol.

  • CH3CH2CH2COOH
Since –COOH group is present at the terminal carbon atom, it is a carboxylic acid.

  • CH3CH2CHO
Since –CHO group is present at the terminal carbon atom, it is an aldehyde.

  • CH3CO-CH2CH3
Since –CO (carbonyl) group is present and it is of the form R-CO-R, it is a ketone.

  • CH3CH2CO-OH
Since -CO-OH is –COOH group and is present at the terminal carbon atom, it is a carboxylic acid.
