Solution

Uterine contraction is a muscle contraction of the uterine smooth muscle. Contraction refers specifically to the motion of the uterus as part of the process of childbirth. Contractions are due to the release of hormone oxytocin by the hypothalamus. Oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions during labour and milk secretion during breastfeeding.
