Photoelectric effect shows the quantum nature of electromagnetic radiation.
This effect was discovered by Hertz in $1887$ .
When light of appropriate frequency is incident on metallic surface,electrons are liberated from that surface.The observation is known as photoelectric effect.
For photo-electrons emission, energy of incident light photon should be greater than equal to work function of metal
