Chromosome:

1. Word Chromosome is made up of two words - CHROMA which means color and SOMES which means body so colored thread like bodies are present in the nucleoplasm of the living cell and helps in the transmission of characters from one generation to another are CHROMOSOMES.
2. There are two chromosomes i.e. X and Y.
3. In males, one X and Y chromosomes are found i.e. XY and in females, two X chromosomes are found i.e. XX.
