A) For staining the onion peels, a dilute solution of safranin is used.
A minimum of 2 to 3 minutes of keeping the cell in contact with the staining agent is required after which, the excess is removed via blotting paper. Safranin is a staining agent used in histology and cytology to color the cells and visualize them under the microscope. Safranin reacts with lignin and stains it red.
