Nutrition is a method in which the food is consumed by the organisms into the body and utilizing the nutrients from the food.

Depending upon the mode of obtaining food, nutrition is of two types:

1. Autotrophic nutrition

When an organism prepares its own food and does not depend on any other organism for food, it is called as autotrophic nutrition. Example:- Plants.

2. Heterotrophic nutrition:

When an organism depends on other organisms for food, it is called as heterotrophic nutrition. Example:- Animals.
