A place where an organism lives and that provides the organism suitable food, shelter and climatic conditions so that it can easily survive, breed and flourish is called a habitat. It consists of two main components:

1) Abiotic or physical component

2) Biotic or living component

In a habitat, both biotic and abiotic components live in close inter-relationship with each other.
