  1. The valve present between the left atrium and left ventricle is the Bicuspid valve. It is also known as the Mitral valve.
  2. It is named so because it has two flaps or leaflet structures to open or close.
  3. During ventricular contraction, the bicuspid valve prevents backward movement of the blood that is from the left ventricle back into the left atrium.
