Open in App
Solution

Ammonia (NH3) gas and Hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas combine to form a solid called Ammonium chloride (NH4Cl).

The reaction is as follows:

NH3(g)+HCl(g)NH4Cl(s)(Ammonia)(Hydrogenchloride)(Ammoniumchloride)

The dense fumes are a result of the suspension of particles of the solid Ammonium chloride in air.
